Dressing Up with Kurtis.

There is nothing more soothing than wearing comfortable Kurtis for a relaxed laid back vibe. Classy & stylish, Kurtis are like a blank canvass & offer ample opportunities to create a plethora of looks that suit the mood. You just need the right tools & an imagination that runs wild.

Create an ethnic look by pairing them up with salwar, dhoti pajamas or a colorful patiala. Turn up the heat by adding a colorful stole or an embroidered vest to go with it. The simplest way to enjoy a solid color kurta is to wear them with leggings- stylish yet comfortable.

For a western look, pair them with palazzo pants or with your denims. And my all time favorite ensemble is to pair my Kurtis with colorful dupattas.

When I was a kid, I could hardly contain my excitement, as I draped Ma's dupatta around me. With a swirl & a turn of the dupatta, I could change my tiny persona. One day, I would be a stern teacher & a corporate bigwig the next day.

As I grew up, my fascination with dupatta's continued. Available in myriad prints & kaleidoscopic colors a dupatta is a great way to dress up the simplest of ensembles. Secretly, I also harbored a wish to hold my dupatta against the wind...a la Bollywood style :) On a recent trip to Great Rann of Kutch, I got an opportunity to do just that. 1) The Versatile Black:

Black till date remains a color that lets you create different looks. On my recent trip to Kutch, the stark expanse of the white dessert gave me an idea. I paired a long sleeved black Kurti with a simple cut ( to avoid getting tanned in the dessert) with a colorful dupatta in shades of green, yellow with a fuchsia pink border.

I paired the Kurti with red leggings & hand crafted earrings from Suvesha accessories.

Wear it across a single shoulder or wrap it up in a turban- a Kurti with a colorful dupatta is sure to turn heads.

2) The Refreshing Green:

I just love the color green- refreshing, calming & in sync with nature. For me, green signifies renewal & growth. For this look, I chose an hand embroidered vest sourced from Kutch, worn over a green Kurti & paired them with beaded bangles handcrafted by the Mir community of Dasada, Saurashtra

Jootis with mirror work & a touch of green completed the look. Add an ethnic hand bag to complete the look & step out to dazzle the world.
