The Star Studded 2015 Audi Autumn Collection Launch.
The cameras started flashing the minute I stepped out of my Audi R8 (well, whatever Ironman drives, I drive) and gingerly placed my stiletto-adorned foot on the red carpet. Dressed in yellow, and looking every bit a fashion forward diva that would seamlessly blend with the Audi Autumn Collection’s progressive and sophisticated preview, I smiled indulgently at the paparazzi. I pouted my glossy lips and smiled my most dazzling smile. Any moment, now- the click click click of the cameras would pierce the silence and making me a page 3 diva. But, wait. Hang on!!!! They ignore me and rush past to my waiting Audi. What?? Like, who is the celeb here? That instant, my eyes fluttered open and I glanced at the Audi Autumn Collection showcase invite lying next to my bed. Aha! I was just dreaming. (Quick note to self- Morning dreams come true). I couldn’t wait for the evening that would be an eclectic mix of luxury, style, and glamour.
I reached the venue dressed in smashing yellow (Morning dreams are real, I tell you. About that Audi R8…..well, we shall get back to it) and was immediately urged to be photographed.
I stepped inside to find a quirky photo booth and a stylish crowd promising a fun time ahead. My head turned towards the new and majestic Audi A 3 sedan, a vision in white. My fingers urged to caress that four-ring insignia and I stepped towards it to take a picture. I listened to the features of the line up being explained and noticed that the 2015 Audi Autumn Collection was all about advanced features, range of customizations and a more progressive look that will delight Audi lovers, all over the World.
In a few minutes, the show started with an electrifying performance by Shaa'ir and Func. Monica Dogra and Randolph Correia set the stage on fire, literally.
Next came Jay Jay, the MC for the evening, who engaged with the audience. His magic tricks made us giggle and his wit and charm put the audience at ease. Finally, the wait was over. A booming voice announced the start of the showcase of the collection inspired by Audi put together by designer Varun Bahl. Amongst lot of cheering and applause, the models walked the ramp in a Collection that highlighted Audi’s brand pillars – sporty, progressive and sophisticated. Embroidery and other Indian techniques were seen through various silhouettes like jackets, dresses and comfortable separates. I saw brilliant use of fabrics like cotton, silk, crepe and more in shades of black, gray, ivory and blue. But the real spotlight stealers were the Audi cars. Amongst a lot of “Oohs” and “Ahs” one by one these cars flirted on the ramp with an indulgent audience. I looked around and saw people cheering and pointing out to their favorite Audi car. The recently launched Audi A3 and A4 sedan, SUVs Q3 Dynamic and Q7 Technology Sport and the executive sedans A6 and A8 vied for our attention.
The showstopper Katrina Kaif walked in with Joe King, Head- Audi India. An intelligent banter between the two revealed their mutual love of Audi.
As people around me started clicking selfies with their favorite Audi, I ogled at the performance packed cars R8 Spyder and RS7 Sportsback.
Eventually, all good things come to an end. A voice announced the end of the Audi Autumn Collection showcase- 5 new cars, 15 top trends that came together in one stunning collection. I was elated to know that these cars are now available at the nearest dealerships. I turned back, took a last look at the beauties and promised the diva inside me- I will ride one of these soon, real soon. Because, with an Audi, you don’t buy a car. You make a statement. You tell a story. And stories are told, never sold.
