Summer is my favorite season. The sun shines bright calling us out from cozy beds into the world of adventure. Travels plans beckon, attracting a few to misty hills or tropical islands. Exotic resort brochures are surfed, choices made and then the most important question arises for every girl- What Do I Pack?

Apart from the essentials, packing a smart wardrobe can make or break your trip. In fact, a lot of fashion journals & designers talk about “Resort wear” a clothing style also known as "Cruise Wear". Generally made from fabrics like organic cotton, poplin, Georgette that are lightweight, easy to pack & breathable, the clothes that fall under this line signify relaxation & displays a sense of style to the wearer. Basically, clothes that fuss free but look great in colors like yellow, minty greens, whites or other soothing colors for a vacation in hills, nautical prints for cruise vacations, classic Hawaiian prints for a beach vacation. Walking shorts, Flowy Caftans with flat sandals, Figure hugging tunics, Evening dresses with embellishments for women are a good choice as they will help you stay stylish from dawn to dusk. Pair these with large hats, over-sized sunglasses, comfortable shoes & minimal accessories to complete the look.

Though, lot is written about “Resort Wear” creating your own style, that is comfortable, stylish & innovative while keeping the basic guidelines in mind can be fun. Fashion Tourist shows you a few looks you can adapt during your next travel.

I recently traveled to Wayanad in Kerala a beautiful destination with misty rolling hills & stayed at a fantastic resort. Here is how I styled a few looks:

Casual Resort Wear:

Look 1- This look called for fuss free clothes like Georgette baggy pants paired with a casual sleeveless top accessorized with colorful bangles & flat belle flats. You can stroll around the resort comfortably in this look or enjoy some random activity.

Look 2- Next day, I paired walking shorts with a white summer top & a wide brimmed hat for a walk through the tea estates. Casual, comfortable, yet stylish this look was apt to sit by the poolside while reading a book too. The same look made my bamboo rafting trip comfortable yet stylish. For accessories, I stuck to beautiful earrings from Swarovski, to keep it simple.

Resort Semi Formal:

Look 3- For this look wear something that can take you through brunch till dinner. I wore a colorful Sundress & lounged by the poolside after brunch.

Look 4- In the evening, I paired palazzo pants with a simple red top, an envelop clutch, cocktail ring & heels for an early dinner.

Resort formal

Look 5- For a formal evening dinner on a Saturday night, I upped my game :) A sheer embellished tunic with exquisite work that looked elegant & accentuated my figure did the trick. I paired it with black leggings, diamante heels, dangling earrings & a chunky cocktail ring.
