Easy Summer Styling Tips

It’s officially April. Summer has arrived & that means high temperatures & humidity that makes you want to wear as little clothing as is appropriate. I know: You’re not quite ready for summer this year. But let’s think about it as a perfect excuse for some fresh outfit inspiration.

As soon as I faced the first stroke of heat, I wanted to hit refresh on everything (including my wardrobe) So here’s a tip girls. Instead of overhauling your entire closet to find that perfect summer clothing piece, follow these tips to dress up for the heat.

1. Make sure your tops aren’t too tight.

Not only is a too-tight top uncomfortable, but also it often creates a much ugly effect. Wearing a looser sleeveless top balances proportions and keeps the look breezier and more chic.

Tip: Go for a lighter-than-light cotton tee or tank tops in any shade of blue. You can get amazing picks at Cotton World outlets.

2. Get In on the Off-the-Shoulder Trend.
Shoulder-baring and cold shoulder tops are everywhere right now and for good reason! No, not just because they look super cute at brunch, but because they’re also the perfect silhouette for hiding arm insecurities. The banded top exposes your strong shoulders and slick collarbone while covering the softer areas of your arms in one trendy swoop.

3. Wear Attention-Grabbing Accessories.
A flash of rhinestones and junk jewellery will draw the eye to the slimmest part of your arm – your wrist. Have fun with the accessories, mixing in a few fringe-flecked pieces and some simple stacking rings to pull the look together. My personal favorite place to go for accessory shopping is at the Colaba Street. I can spend hours and hours finding my perfect accessory for the outfit.

4. Wear Sleeves with Cutouts.
Just because it has sleeves doesn’t automatically make a top off limits for warmer weather. Look for sleeves with strategically placed cutouts or panels and just pray for a fortunate event of a breeze) I bet it will feel super nice.

5. Add Lightweight Layers.
Introducing your new summer staple: the kimono.
Think about it: It’s perfect. A layer of rayon is lightweight enough to not add a ton of heat and looks super stylish too. I love the new collection of kimonos on Koovs.com.

6. Embrace Wide-Leg Pants.
A pair of culottes that’s loose and flowy coupled with a slimmer-fitting top is far more flattering than you’d think. And honestly, palazzo pants are kind of a dream this summer. They’re breezy and effortlessly chic and can easily be dressed up with heels or dressed down with a fun tee and wedges.
Least to say this, but the ones at Zara are just fabulous. If you don’t have a pair of wide-leg culottes this season, you’re missing out on a very important summer staple.

7. Wear a midi-dress
Tea-length skirts and dresses have been on-trend for some time and aren’t showing any signs of fading away. This outfit spells cool, comfortable, and basically summer. Pair it with a simple sandal from Catwalk and you’re good to go.

8. Invest in a good handbag.
Add a touch of extravagance with a perfect arm candy this summer. Invest in a good quality handbag as it will help you carry all your summer essentials over your shoulder and get ready for a bit of fun in the sun. There are beautiful handbags for women out there that can add a touch of character to your favorite summer outfit.

Also remember, these points:
-Sun protection is nonnegotiable, so sleek sunnies and sunscreen are a must.
-Toss a bright yellow tote filled with summer essentials over your shoulder and get ready for a bit of fun in the sun.
-My personal favorite footwear of choice would be espadrilles all the way.
-A flower crown and a messy fishtail braid would be a great call.
-Consider a crocheted top.

Endless summer days lie ahead. Are you inspired to try on these tips this season?
