Apart from being an inexpensive routine, facial steaming is good as it helps open up pores and let out toxins. Steaming also helps cleanse product build up, loosen blackheads/whiteheads, improve circulation and add a healthy glow!  Do remember do follow the steaming routine consistently but only once a week or maximum twice a week in you have oily skin. 

How Do I Do It At Home?

Facial steam can be easily done at home under a tented towel and with the help of a steamer or a huge pot. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove traces of makeup, oil or sweat. Boil water in a steamer or a pot and add herbs like rose petals, peppermint or lavender as per choice (optional). Let the water simmer for couple of minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cover your head with a thick towel and let the steam come on your face. If you feel too hot, move your face from side to side. Take steam for 4-5 minutes and wipe your face clean. Splash cold water to close pores and follow up with rose water application. Apply a hydrating serum, as facial steam may dehydrate the skin.

A visit to a steam room can help improve your health in several ways. Though, this cannot be done at home, investing time to enjoy a steam bath at your gym or a spa is highly recommended. Taking steam helps reduce stress, which may lead to better cardio vascular health. Steaming also promotes removal of toxins via sweating and helps regulate blood pressure levels. In fact, steam therapy is highly recommended for people who suffer from frequent colds, coughs and sinus problems. Steaming also helps relieve the body of aches and pains post work out and helps achieve better focus.

How Do I Do It Right?

Avoid eating heavy foods prior to taking a steam bath and hydrate your body by drinking enough water. Take a mild shower before your steam bath to clear body of oil and sweat. One can also add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil to the steam room and stay in the steam room for maximum of 10-15 minutes. Step out of the steam room and relax for a bit before showering with cool water. Do not indulge in a steam bath more than once a week and step out immediately if you feel any discomfort.  Avoid steam rooms during pregnancy or if you suffer from heart related problems or skin infections. Beginners can start with a steam bath of 5-10 minutes and gradually increase duration once comfortable.

  1. Steaming , sun kar hi kitna relaxing lagta hai, har baar to Spa nahi jaati per meri maid pressure cooker me pipe laga kar uske muh per kapda laga kar full body ko steam deti hai 👌👌
