Triphala

An Ayurvedic combination of three herbs (haritaki, bahera and amla), Triphala is a powerful formula to treat many disorders. As a matter of fact, triphala powder is rich in anti oxidants and also helps in collagen production. Here is how one can use triphala in ayurvedic skin care recipes:

For glowing complexion: Mix together 1 teaspoon chickpea flour (besan) with 1/2 teaspoon triphala powder, pinch of amba haldi powder and little yogurt to form a thick paste. Apply on face and neck area and let it dry. Wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

For healthy teeth: Mix together 1/4 teaspoon triphala powder, neem powder and amba haldi powder with enough water to form a thick paste. Apply all over teeth and gums with gentle massaging motions for 5 minutes post brushing. Gargle with water. This ritual ensures healthy teeth and gums.

Amla

Amla or Indian gooseberry is rich in iron and can be ingested or applied externally. Similarly it works wonders on hair. The powder/juice can help treat hair loss and prevent greying of hair. Not to mention, when applied on face, amla helps brighten complexion, tighten skin and fade pimple/acne scars. Furthermore, amla can be considered a one of the best ayurveda tips in the domain of beauty.



For Complexion: Apply some fresh amla juice to your face with a cotton ball and leave for 15-20 minutes. Moreover, one can also use amla powder with a pinch of turmeric to make this face pack.

Neem

As skin toner: Boil 10-12 fresh neem leaves in  clean filtered water for 15 minutes on medium flame. Cool, strain and store in a glass bottle. Apply neem water regularly as a toner after cleansing your face. This toner is highly effective on oily skin.

Brahmi 

Brahmi, one of the most potent Ayurvedic herb that revitalizes the brain and acts as a brain booster is extremely beneficial for hair. But this powerful herb, when applied externally can also help in new skin cell regeneration and impart radiance.




For Hair: Take 100 ml sesame oil in a bowl and add 2 tbsp brahmi powder, one tablespoon amla powder and few fenugreek seeds. Make a double boiler by placing a big pan and adding sufficient water in it. Place the bowl with oil+herbs mixture and place on a slow flame. Infuse this mixture for about 30 minutes, switch off gas and cool. Strain into a clean glass bottle.

For Radiant Skin: Make a face pack with brahmi powder, sandalwood powder and rose water. Apply all over face and neck area and relax. Wash off with lukewarm water.

Turmeric 

Belonging to ginger family, the history of turmeric dates back to more than 4000 years old. When applied externally, turmeric helps reduce acne and tighten pores due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Not to mention, it also helps reduce scars. The curcumin present in turmeric helps to reduce hyper pigmentation and lighten the skin tone. Using turmeric is one the best ayurvedic beauty tips for fairness.




Skin Lightening Face Mask- Mix together 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder, one teaspoon orange peel powder, some aloe vera gel and raw honey to make a thick paste. Apply all over face and neck and keep for 10-15 minutes. Wash off gently with lukewarm water, pat dry and spritz some organic rose water all over face.
