5 Easy Homemade Scrubs For Sensitive Skin

If you are the one with sensitive skin, then choosing the right products for your face (homemade or from a store) can be a bit of a challenge. There's always a fear of what could possibly disagree with your skin that would trigger a reaction.

Therefore skin like this deserves a fair amount of love and has to be looked after with a great deal of gentleness and care. The choice of products should ideally be  -
1. Brands which specialise in skincare for extreme sensitivity AND
2. Home remedies

Since sensitive skin can be tricky, the process of exfoliation should be as gentle as possible. Exfoliation helps in getting rid of old dead cells on the skin so that new cells can make way.
Just make sure that you scrub your face in slow & gentle motions. Scrubbing once a week or in 10 days is good enough.

We brought to some homemade cleansers earlier. Now here are some scrubs which can be created at home for a more healthier look.

1. Simple Coconut Oil & Sugar Scrub

Coconut oil is a powerhouse of nutrition and its popularity is only increasing across the globe. Combine 3 teaspoons of coconut oil with 1 teaspoon of sugar and mix well. Just use your finger tips and with gentle circular motions scrub off your entire face and neck. The sugar granules will help in eliminating the dead skin.
Do this for about a minute and wash your face off with a cleanser. Pat dry and spray some rose water on the face.

2. Soothing Oatmeal Scrub

Grind some oatmeal in a blender. Do not make it too powdery. Just blend it to the point where the oatmeal breaks down into smaller pieces.
Add 2 teaspoons of aloe vera gel and give it a good mix. Just use it on your face in the same way as mentioned above. Oatmeal has natural cleansing and exfoliating properties that won't leave your skin dry like harsh soaps or cleansers would.

3. Use Malai as a scrub

It cannot get any simpler & gentler than this. Just collect some malai in a spoon without any milk. Apply on the face and gently rub evenly all over. The malai will lock in a good amount of moisture in the skin and also remove the dead cells from the upper layer.

You can make various combinations like malai with besan  (gram flour) or malai with turmeric & rosewater.

(For those who don't know what malai is, malai comes from milk. Non homogenized whole milk is brought to a boil and cooled down. The layer that forms on the top is called 'MALAI')

4. Almond & Olive Oil Scrub

Take a handful of almonds and pulse them in the blender. Again, do not make them powdery, simply break them into small granules. Add about 2-3 teaspoons of olive oil and make a fine paste. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice and apply it all over the face, scrub gently and wash off.

5. Rice Powder & Lemon Juice

Take about 2 tablespoons of raw rice and powder it to a granular texture in a blender. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and rose water and mix well. Apply the paste gently on the face and scrub off.
You can also mix rice powder with honey & yoghurt if your skin is too dry.

Ideally, make these scrubs in the same quantity as you need them in one time. They do not contain  any preservatives and hence do not last long or stay fresh. Therefore remember to refrigerate incase you've made extra.

Hope these help in getting you a more healthier skin :)
