How To Use Vitamin E Oil For Healthy Skin, Hair & Nails

Beauty rituals like applying  facial oils on the face have been practiced for centuries. Natural, organic and plant based oils are loaded with essential nutrients that offer countless benefits while being harmless. Though the list of oils that are beneficial for skin has been covered in our earlier blog today lets look at the benefits of vitamin E oil. Naturally occurring in some nuts and seeds, vitamin E oil is easily available in a capsule form or as oil for application on the body. Rich in anti-oxidants and healing properties, vitamin E oil  when applied externally, benefits your skin, hair and nails.

Vitamin E oil in its pure form is thick, viscous and very potent, so its important to dilute it with a carrier oil like organic olive oil or coconut oil before application.




Lets look at some great ways of including vitamin E oil in our beauty routines for healthy skin, hair and nails:

Healthy Body Moisturizer

If you suffer from dry, dehydrated and flaky skin, vitamin E oil can be your savior provided you don't suffer from break outs. Add a few drops of vitamin E oil to some organic olive/coconut oil and mix well, transfer to a clean bottle and use it in the night to wake up to glowing skin. This mixture can be safely used on your face too but do check with your dermatologist once. For added goodness, include a daily 5 minute facial massage with Vitamin E oil before bed time and wake up to healthy skin.

To Prevent Wrinkles & Premature Ageing:

As we age, the production of collagen (the most abundant protein in the body that helps give structure to our hair, skin, nails) drops, resulting in fine lines and crow's feet around the eyes. Apart from ageing, free radical damage and unhealthy lifestyle can take a toll too. Vitamin E oil helps prevent and fight free radical damage that reduces appearance of wrinkles while boosting collagen to prevent premature ageing.

Vitamin E Anti Ageing Face Pack:

Mix some yogurt, few drops of vitamin E, organic honey together and apply all over face and neck area. Carefully apply under the eye area as well to soothe fine lines and crow's feet. Let dry and wash off with lukewarm water. Repeat 3-4 times a week for a month and decrease the frequency of application gradually.

For Glowing Skin

Applying a deeply soothing face mask made with vitamin E, organic almond oil, organic rose water and some fresh aloe vera gel is an easy way to enjoy glowing skin. The hydrating properties of aloe vera gel help soothe the effects of harsh sun exposure and rose water tones the skin. Mix together one tablespoon of almond oil, few drops of vitamin E oil, two tablespoon fresh aloe vera gel and some rose water to form a paste. The face pack may not be too thick so lie down after application and wash off after 20 minutes. Spray some rose water of face for added TLC. 

Get Rid of Dark Circles:

Take a few drops of vitamin E and apply carefully under the eyes. Avoid applying very close to the eyes to prevent irritation. Let it as is overnight for best results.

Cleansing Agent:

Vitamin E, when applied on face, helps deep clean dirt, residual make-up and grime that may result in clogged pores and other skin related problems. Cleanse your face once in 10 days with a soft cotton ball, soaked in vitamin E for healthy skin.

Lighten Scars

If you suffer from burn/acne scars or dark spots, application of vitamin E helps lighten them by regenerating new cells. Apply vitamin E oil over the scar tissue with gentle circular motions and let the oil soak. Before applying on face, do a patch test to check allergies.

Mix vitamin E oil to your an unscented moisturizer and apply all over stretch marks and see the difference after 15 days :)

Healthy Shiny Hair

Nuts like almonds and seeds like sunflower seeds are a good source of vitamin E and a great addition to our daily diet. Before shampooing, a pre-poo routine with vitamin E oil can add shine to your hair as it is deeply nourishing. Vitamin E when applied to hair, helps reduce split ends and strengthens your locks. Apply the oil to your hair with gentle movements, concentrating on the ends and wrap a hot towel for 10-15 minutes. Wash off after an hour with a mild shampoo.

Treat Dry Nails & Cuticles

If you suffer from dry and cracked cuticles, apply vitamin E to your cuticles with a soft cotton ball to moisturize and nourish your nails. The oil also helps strengthen nails preventing chipped nails. Do this routine daily for 10-15 days or till you get results.

Soothe Chapped Lips

Chapped lips are a problem especially during winters or during extremely dry weather. Break open a vitamin E capsule or apply the oil directly on lips and keep overnight.
